The Rooms

The 30 air conditioned rooms at Meghauli Serai are perched on the edge of the Rapti River so you will not only have amazing views of the wildlife but also of the Himalayan landscape. 16 of the Villas have private plunge pools and the decor is based on that of the local Tharu tribal homes with thatched roofs, mud walls and pebbled footpaths. Don’t forget to opt for the romantic bath turn downs!

You won’t have to worry about finding somewhere to eat while at Meghauli Serai since they have a range of dining options available including eating under the stars and romantic candlelit dinners served on a deck right next to the river. The hotel operates an “anytime, anywhere” dining concept and offers local Nepali dishes and delicacies such as nettle soup and a stew made with over 70 types of local lentils.

After a day of wildlife spotting you’ll be looking for something more substantial so why not try the variety of grilled meats and fresh vegetables (served on a stone plate) from the organic garden. Lunch is typically continental with sandwiches, pastas and French fries. The pre-game-drive dawn breakfast includes oatmeal served with optional Grand Marnier or Bailey’s Irish Cream. For those who skip the game drive, breakfast at a more civilised hour comes with eggs, pancakes, and Indian or Nepali dishes.
